Daniel & Debbie Watters

Born to Wycliffe missionaries and raised in Asia, Daniel has served with Wycliffe since 1994. Debbie brings her passion for teaching and previous missions experience to their partnership. After their marriage in 2012, Daniel and Debbie moved to Asia where Daniel served as a Country Director and Debbie taught ESL. Now based in Gilroy, California since 2024, they balance full-time ministry work while supporting Debbie’s parents.

Daniel wears multiple hats in his work with Wycliffe. In his primary role, he collaborates with teams to address remaining Bible translation needs in Asia. He connects with partners and churches in Asia to develop innovative translation programs. These partnerships involve working with local churches who are leading translation efforts but need support. Daniel also serves on Wycliffe USA's board.

Debbie divides her time between being the primary support for her parents and teaching English online to SIL staff from around the world who are involved in the Bible translation movement. In these one-on-one sessions, she provides not just instruction and practice, but also heartfelt encouragement—pouring herself into enriching her students' experiences far beyond language lessons. Debbie also teaches an ESL in-person class at Gavilan Community College in Gilroy.

Together, Daniel and Debbie continue to press on with the goal of having a translation program in progress in every language in Asia still needing one, so that all people can encounter Jesus personally.
