Thank you for your interest in David & Fran Wakefields' work with us. David serves as a volunteer with Wycliffe and its partner organizations in Asia. He is a consultant to translation, literacy, and community development projects in Mainland and South Islands Asia.
David, an anthropologist and Bible translator, helps translators and other project leaders wrestle with issues related to how the meaning of words used in translation are influenced by the cultural contexts within which they are used:
•He continues to serve the Miniafia tribe of Papua New Guinea as a consultant and facilitator on their Old Testament translation project. The Wakefield family remain the only people outside the tribal members themselves who speak Miniafia. David & Fran's bilingual ability is an invaluable asset in facilitating the translation process.
•He works with Scripture Engagement personnel (South Islands & Mainland Asia) to find winsome ways to introduce Scripture to minority communities.
•In addition, he provides consulting services to LEAD Asia (a partner organization), helping educators and leaders of tribal minorities to evaluate alternatives open to them for improving the education, health, and the general welfare of their communities.
David & Fran appreciate your prayers on their behalf as they continue to serve Christ and the Bible-less communities of our world in retirement.

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
