Jose was born and raised in Diriamba, Nicaragua. Prior to his immigration to the US, he served as a translator for different mission groups that were focused on evangelism, kids’ ministry, pastoral training, teacher conferences, medical aid, and humanitarian work. Since 2018, he has been serving in his local church in the worship team and homeless ministry.
Rachel is originally from Maine, US, where she grew up on a homestead as the oldest of six children. She went into business and has had a successful career in management and organizational leadership for a leading national health insurance carrier. However, she carried a lifelong call of God to take the gospel to the nations, and pursuing this calling led her to start doing short-term missions trips.
Jose and Rachel met in Nicaragua when they were both serving in the northern part of the country during a short-term evangelism and Vacation Bible School outreach event. They decided to start a new life together in the US with the clear intention of being in full time ministry within five years. The Lord is now bringing that vision to fruition. In addition to now working with Wycliffe, they now have two beautiful boys together, Nathan and Elisha making a combined family of 7 children.
They will be working with Wycliffe in the Church Relations department, developing partnerships with churches in the United States to strategically advance the involvement of the church in Bible translation. Because of Jose’s background, they will be able to work uniquely with Latino churches as well.
Please consider partnering in the Garcia family’s Wycliffe ministry, advancing the work of Bible translation across the globe.

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
