THE WYCLIFFE MINISTRY OF

Joshua Horton

Joshua Horton

While the "business languages" of the world are well-received and supported by governments, academia and technology alike, the same cannot usually be said for many of the world's languages. Nearly a thousand languages out there have no accessible Scripture nor translation in progress. Many of them have never been written, let alone typewritten - how can we then hope to see God's word reach them in an accessible and mass-produced form?

As a linguistic software development team member within Wycliffe, it is Joshua's aim to see neither language nor linguist hindered by technological issues while undertaking the work of Bible translation. Through the work of a dedicated few to provide necessary technological resources, the work of many - even of Wycliffe as a whole - can be made faster and more effective, seeing writing and the typewritten Scriptures become accessible to each and every person, no matter their heart language.

His primary responsibility is that of a maintainer and developer for the Keyman apps, which already facilitate typing in thousands of languages, with more continually being added as colleagues on the field progress in their translation projects. He's also the lead developer for Keyman's predictive-text feature, which can help ensure better consistency in spelling & readability for languages that have recently been granted a written form. More on Keyman can be found at https://keyman.com.

If this dream and/or work speaks to you, it would be a blessing if you would consider partnering with Joshua's Wycliffe ministry as we endeavor to see God's words reach all.

Wycliffe Ministry Budget

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.

This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
