THE WYCLIFFE MINISTRY OF

Martin & Alice Reed

Martin & Alice Reed

Martin and Alice recently completed their first term of service as Language Program Facilitators with the Cree Initiative in subarctic Canada. They partnered with First Nations church leaders in northern Manitoba and Quebec to equip their people to do Bible translation and promote the use of indigenous languages in Scripture, school, and community life - including the publication of a full-color children’s book of the story of Joseph (Gen 37-50) in Western Swampy Cree, Ojibwe, and Dene with indigenous illustrations.

Beginning July 2022 they will be relocating to Calgary, Alberta where Martin will serve as an Indigenous Church Engagement Advisor connecting indigenous communities in Canada with Wycliffe's translation and language development resources, as well as facilitating "kingdom friendships" with non-indigenous churches. Alice will be a Bible translation consultant-in-training reviewing and approving completed translations for publication internationally.

The Reeds have two children, Grace (4) and Kai (1). Martin and Alice met while pursuing graduate studies in Dallas, Texas, and they moved into Kawawachikamach, Quebec on their first anniversary. Alice holds a M.A. in biblical exegesis and linguistics from Dallas Theological Seminary, and Martin holds a M.A. in language and culture studies, with a concentration in literacy, from Dallas International University.

In their free time the Reeds enjoy trying traditional activities like camping, showshoeing, sewing, and beading. They also seek opportunities to disciple believers in how God’s Word of life and hope can heal generations of hurt from addiction, suicide, abuse, depression, and loss of language and culture.

Wycliffe Ministry Budget

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.

This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
