Steve has been serving with Wycliffe Bible Translators since 1983, developing software for translators to use in their work. One early program he worked on was called Computer Assisted Related Language Adaptation. It enables bootstrapping a new translation from an existing translation. More recently, he has worked on a program named Language Explorer. It provides tools for creating dictionaries, recording cultural observations, and linguistically analyzing texts. These tasks are all useful for ensuring good quality translations. Other software that Steve has worked on includes programs for supporting literacy work. This is needed for many language groups so that the people can read and study the translated Scriptures.
Steve works remotely from his home in Emmett, Idaho with the Language Software Development team headquartered at the International Linguistics Center in Dallas, Texas. Would you prayerfully consider partnering with Steve in his Wycliffe ministry supporting Bible translation behind the scenes?
Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
