Tim and Sondra have been serving in Southeast Asia with Wycliffe since 2008.
Tim became the Director for the Mainland SE Asia Group in January 2024. In this role, he oversees the whole regional team, working in Thailand and 4 neighboring countries. He is responsible for evaluating and acting on the needs and strategies for the region, ensuring standards are upheld for staff and projects, managing the group's budget, and safeguarding the relationships with local governments.
After 11 years in HR, Sondra stepped out of active service when Tim became Director. She is currently focused on supporting the family to free Tim to serve more fully. She spends about 5 hours a week providing help-desk-style support to other HR staff serving around the globe.
Together, Tim and Sondra help support a team of about 215 coworkers in SE Asia. They are privileged to work behind the scenes for the many national and expat translators, linguists, literacy workers, scripture engagement workers, teachers and others who serve on the "front lines".
The Armstrong children attend a local Christian German school. For the 2024/45 school year, Jonny is in grade 12, Sarah is grade 11, Benji is in grade 8, Gabe is in kindergarten, and Lydia just started at preschool.
Please pray that the Armstrongs will serve well in this challenging season. Pray that Tim would find balance and encouragement in his challenging role. Pray that Sondra would have a servant's heart as she serves almost fully behind-the-scenes for this season. Pray for the kids - pray above all that their relationships with Jesus would be vibrant and real.

Because the Armstrongs serve in a sensitive region, information about them is not posted publically online.

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
