Dave and Julie originally served among the Mamainde people of west-central Brazil as translators, from 1989 to 2008.
They then moved to Asia where Julie taught math to missionary children at Grace International School in Chiang Mai, Thailand, while Dave taught linguistics at Payap University (Thailand) to minority students from all over Southeast Asia.
Dave's new role is General Editor of the Ethnologue, the world's largest database of languages. SIL provides this comprehensive database as a service to mission agencies, governments, local communities, and universities.
Dave will also be the global coordinator for Language Development training among endangered language communities.
The Eberhards will now base out of Wilmore, Kentucky.

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
