THE WYCLIFFE MINISTRY OF

Cathy Krekel

Cathy Krekel

Cathy joined Wycliffe in November '82 and, after completing her linguistic training and discovering her ministry partners, headed to Papua New Guinea (PNG) where she served as a Literacy and Scripture Use Specialist in 11 of PNG’s 19 Provinces. Later, as a Senior Literacy Consultant, she mentored Papua New Guineans within the PNG Bible Translation Assn. as they launched their own literacy unit. This prepared her to consult with Aramaic Bible Translations, Inc., based in Chicago, which opened doors for Cathy to promote awareness about Bible translation among Asian churches within Chicagoland and eventually to join Wycliffe USA’s mobilization efforts as a Campus Recruiter and Mission Coach. Cathy relished each of these assignments and many of the relationships formed remain to this day.
In retirement, Cathy hopes to contribute to the ongoing work of Bible translation as a volunteer and will keep you informed as her plans unfold. (If you're not already receiving updates but want to be included, simply request this in the Comments section.) Know that Cathy is deeply grateful for your ongoing prayers and/or gifts directed to her pension fund account. Wycliffe’s retirement pension program advises any new donors, or those not choosing the automated process, to send with your gift a note that indicates: “Preference for Cathy Krekel’s pension fund.” For those already set up to give by means of automatic bank transfers, there's no need to make changes. For further questions or assistance, contact Donor Relations at 1-800-992-5433.

Wycliffe Ministry Budget

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.

This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
