Ed and Debi Condra went to PNG in 1983 and began working among the Patpatar people to translate the New Testament into their language, with the Patpatar New Testament being dedicated in 1998. Beginning in 2005 the Condras worked with the Patpatar people to establish the New Ireland Translation Institute (NITI) for the training of mother tongue translators in other languages of the New Ireland Island area. NITI has been working with 12 languages and dialects, with 11 of those translation programs now finished or very nearly so. Ed has been the consultant for 5 of those projects, 4 of which are now finished: the Sokarek New Testament, Hinsaal New Testament, Barok New Testament, and Patpatar Psalms. Ed is currently working as a consultant on the Sokirik New Testament and providing general administrative oversight for NITI. In mid-2023 he also provided training in Biblical exegesis for national pastors from a number of languages throughout New Ireland. Debi went to be with the Lord in 2020, from early onset Alzheimer's disease. The loss of Debi and memories of her suffering continue to be a daily challenge for Ed as he seeks to continue on with the Bible translation task.

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
