Jan and Debbie served overseas in translation and administration from 1989 to 2013, in Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands. After a sabbatical year they were based in Dallas, TX, for five years where Jan worked in Human Resources for Wycliffe USA. At the end of 2019, the Gossners transitioned back to full-time language work with a view to completing the New Testament with the Edolo people of PNG, work that they started in 1990.
The Gossners are based now in western Montana and make yearly five-month trips to PNG to work on-site with the local Edolo translators. On a trip in 2023, printed copies of the six epistles checked in 2022 were distributed, and five more epistles were reviewed with the team. On an upcoming 2024 trip, they plan to consultant check Luke and Revelation, and review Hebrews and possibly Romans with the team. The five epistles reviewed in 2023 are also ready for back-translation and then consultant checking, if time and consultant resources allow.
With 100% of the NT in first draft, and 85% advisor-checked, the goal begins to be in sight. The Gossners have four grown children and seven grandchildren.
Would you consider partnering with the Gossners' Wycliffe ministry in Bible translation?

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
