After 14 years serving in Papua New Guinea, Mark & Sonja and family returned to a home assignment in 2007. Sonja joined the "great cloud of witnesses" in July 2018 after a 5-month battle with brain cancer. They were married 44 years.
Mark continued to conduct flight training in two aircraft and the full-motion simulator at the aviation training center at JAARS in North Carolina until July of 2019. In August, he began a new assignment on loan to Parkwater Aviation in Spokane, WA, specializing in Kodiak training. Four Kodiaks now serve Bible translators in PNG. In March of 2020, Mark married a widowed friend and supporter, Selene, whom he had known for forty years.
Mark retired June 30, 2022, and left Spokane with Selene for Sioux Falls, SD, in August of 2024 to be closer to family members. He may continue to volunteer as opportunities arise. While Mark and Selene's retirement income looks to be adequate, if you would like to continue to provide pension income it would be a blessing. Please include the statement, "Preference for the Wycliffe retirement pension of Mark Wuerffel." He and Selene continue to long for the day when some from every tribe and tongue will worship our Saviour around the throne!

Wycliffe Ministry Budget
Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
