Derwin and Wendy Penson are missionaries who have been with Wycliffe for 15 and 20 years, respectively.
Derwin has a deep heart for the families who serve around the world. He works with Refuge 139, a program of SIL Eurasia that provides care and support for these families. Derwin is assigned to this work through Wycliffe, which continues to be his sending and support organization. Affectionately known as “Mr. Donut” on the field, he has helped facilitate Refuge 139 programs in Mexico, Malaysia, Brazil, Cameroon, Germany, and West Asia—with more trips to come.
Wendy serves in Wycliffe’s Advancement department, where she helps connect the needs of Bible translation work on the field with the generosity of financial partners. Her primary focus is building relationships and ministering to Wycliffe donors, encouraging their vital role in ensuring that Bible translation efforts around the world are well resourced and sustained.
Derwin and Wendy met at the tender age of 17 and have been “joined at the hip” ever since. The Pensons have been married for over 34 years. After 24 years of marriage, the LORD led them to adopt a sibling group of 3 children: Ebony, Nevaeh and Skylar and they have now been a “forever family” for more than 10 years.

Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
