Steve currently serves as Director of SIL Global's Spiritual Life Team. The mandate of this team is to help our 4300 global staff grow closer to God and closer to one another in a spiritual community. They create spaces for leaders and staff to be with God individually and corporately where burdens can be released, comfort can be received, and streams of living water can flow into dry places. They foster prayerfulness and spiritual vitality through in-person and guided opportunities for prayer, discernment, spiritual refreshment, and the learning and practice of healthy spiritual disciplines.
Steve & Janice previously served in the Philippines from 1984-2008, and were based there again 2013-2017. Their first assignment was in language survey, and then as Bible translators among a language group in the province of Palawan. The Agutaynen New Testament was dedicated in 2004, and revised and reprinted in 2020. Steve directed the work in the Philippines 1997-2001, and has had various roles related to equipping others for translation, language and development work in the Philippines and Asia. Janice served in various educational roles through many of those years. Steve has worked at the global level since 2009.
Now based in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Steve and Janice long to see the Scriptures become accessible to language communities worldwide. And they long to see those working on this task in vital communion with the God who saves and refreshes.
Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
