There are 68 major languages in Mexico besides Spanish. Most of these do not yet have the full Bible. Whole denominations don’t have access to the Old Testament in their heart language. Can you imagine worship without the Psalms or reading Matthew without Isaiah? Dr. Charles and Alice Telfer are partnering with local translation teams primarily in Mexico. As a specialist in Old Testament and Biblical languages, Charles is a translation consultant and supports these teams to make sure that the final version accurately represents the Hebrew original. He is also assisting a translation project in East Africa. Charles served as a missionary to Eritrea, as a pastor in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church, and as Professor of Biblical Languages at Westminster Seminary California. Alice served for 18 years in France, working with North Africans. More recently, she worked as an occupational therapist for eight years. In Mexico City she will be learning Spanish as she identifies how she can be of service UNTI (their Mexican partner organization). Wycliffe Ministry Budget
Wycliffe establishes a Ministry Budget for its members to reflect recurring expenses related to family factors and their geographic location of service. Giving to Wycliffe directly impacts members' ability to begin and remain in their assignment.
This monthly budget covers ministry-related expenses, insurance and retirement, social security and taxes, and Wycliffe administrative costs. The remainder is what the members receive as "take-home pay" for their daily living expenses.
