Convergence: A Global Crossroads in Translation Consulting
Capitalize on your skills by serving as a translation consultant. Convergence is an accelerated apprenticeship program, equipping new consultants with both classroom knowledge and hands-on experience to be effectively mentoring teams in less than five years.
Bible translation consultants come alongside local Bible translation teams, helping provide biblical, exegetical and linguistic insight into challenging problems. When they serve in a spirit of humility and collaboration, discipleship takes place, relationships are deepened and communities meet Jesus in their own languages.
Convergence includes
- Practical hands-on training in linguistics, missiology, program management and more to prepare you to be an effective consultant.
- Mentorship by experienced, passionate consultants.
- Overseas trips to observe and learn under local communities and churches doing Bible translation.
- A tight-knit cohort that will support you every step of the way.
- Collaboration between us and you to find the best long-term match for your situation that prioritizes you and your family’s physical, spiritual and emotional wellbeings.
- Freedom to pursue higher education, including Ph.D. programs.
Traditional training could take up to a decade to be fully equipped as a translation consultant. But churches don’t want to wait for translation work to start for their communities; they want to start it now. If you’re a lifelong learner and ready to grow, you can serve on a team and partner with others through Convergence.
More than just academic education, Convergence includes a mentored experience with real-world Bible translation projects. It also connects you with like-minded consultants-in-training in your cohort and with experienced consultants and other field personnel who are on the ground doing the work God has called you to do.

This program might be for you if …
- You’ve earned an M.Div. and/or an M.A. in biblical studies, linguistics, theology or a related field.
- You’re a team player and encourager with a passion to serve others.
- You have previous cross-cultural experience.
- You’re fluent in a modern language in addition to English and/or are willing to learn.
- You’re able to read (with reference helps) a biblical language.
- You’re able to work with others from various denominations.
To thrive in Convergence, you’ll need to hold yourself to the highest of standards and stretch yourself to understand new perspectives. You’ll have to trust God when you walk through seasons of ambiguity and uncertainty, knowing that He’s doing bigger things than you can imagine. But you won’t be going alone. You’ll be embedded into a rich, diverse cohort who will support, encourage and pray with you every step of the way.
